You don’t need these 7 things to be happier in life

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Sometimes we unknowingly postpone our happiness or are not ready to embrace happiness even if it knocks our heart and mind. We frame ourselves to few factors and resist accepting happy moments unconditionally.

Consider below seven thoughts that are holding you back, but actually, you can be happier without thinking of them.

01. Certainty

Everything changes, and we all have limited resources, including time. If you are waiting for a guaranteed future, that’s not going to work.

Suppose you are waiting to be happy after a settled-down life with subjective factors like future income, good marriage, good friends, or a better place. In that case, you will not be able to experience the true happiness you wish.

Live in this moment. Be happy with what you have. You will have to pay your bills and loan instalments. But make sure those are worth the happiness and satisfaction you had.

Uncertainty itself is a reason to live happily. Because you don’t know what will happen tomorrow, it’s better to live today happily.

02. Comfort

Things are not easy, and you can’t live in comfort every moment. You have to do hard things to be happy in life. Hardships are life lessons that teach us how to balance our tears and smiles.

Hard work can motivate you, and you can be self-satisfied with how you grind yourself every day. You can challenge hardships and smile because you are battling every day, and you have not given up.

03. Control

You can be happier when you can control everything and everyone around you. But you know that it is not possible every time.

Everyone and everything has limits. But you try to take control of every aspect of your life and find happiness. This won’t always work, and at the edge of it, you get disappointed.

Try to MANAGE what you have rather than trying to control everything. Train yourself to be satisfied within your circle of control. You will save time which you spent on controlling insignificant and uncontrollable things and people. And, you will feel free and happy in a simplified world.

04. To make everyone happy.

No matter how good you do, how good your thoughts are, you cannot please everyone in this world. It is as simple as that. The reason is people are different. Their thoughts, feelings, and expectations vary.

Are you a person who lets the level of happiness of others decide your happiness? Be careful about giving that much of your life on behalf of others. Make sure you are not the one who gets hurt in the end.

Unless you are not doing any bad for others, you don’t need to please everyone to be happy. First, make yourself happy, then others.

05. Ideal time and place

When you count on an ideal time or a place to find your happiness, you miss the present moment.

The past is gone, and the future is yet to come. You cannot rewind time to go back to your past and enjoy that moment. Also, it is not a good idea to wait for the unforeseen future to bring your happiness.

Either you are in a mansion or the streets, the place where happiness lies is within your mind. Train your mind to build a place that is available anytime to smile and be happy. You will not look for an ideal time and a luxurious place to be happy.

06. Appreciation of others.

Good relationships are essential. But, if you are waiting for others to appreciate and validate you, you may be lowering yourself. The first one who should appreciate yourself is you.

It would help if you practiced valuing yourself and appreciating your soul. Once you start to know your worth, you will find happiness without waiting for others to validate you.

07. Perfect relationships.

You might be planning to have a good nap after you settle down the troublesome chats you are having with your partner. Or, you might be searching for new friends since you are not happy with the ones you have now.

It is good to have such plans. But, you need to understand that there are no perfect relationships. Every relationship has thoughts and feelings and communication in between to maintain the bondage. When it comes to thoughts and feelings, misunderstandings and disagreements are inevitable.

The good approach is to identify what is wrong with your relationships and minimize its impact on your happiness. The best is to understand “it is how it is” and live happily in every moment of your relationship.

Conclusion

It is not healthy to have hidden thoughts inside your mind that penalize happy moments. Instead, you have to keep on grabbing every moment of happiness to its fullest.
